Why is this ring so rare and unique? It starts with the story behind it’s stone Natural Wild Horse, also known as Crazy Horse Stone, Appaloosa Stone or Wild Horse Turquoise but, it's not turquoise. It’s a mixture of magnesite and hematite (an iron mineral). It was discovered in the mid-90’s near the Globe copper mine in the Gila Wilderness Area in Southern Arizona. Only a few years after the mine was opened, they closed it again, so any stone on the market today has been stashed away in some prospectors garage ready to be shaped and polished into a beautiful work of art. Since so far, there only seems to be one true source of Natural Wild Horse, (imitations are rolling in from China) and also because of it's beauty . . . it retains a high value and is a remarkably popular. Oh and just in case your wondering, it got its name because it resembles a spotted brown and white pinto horse.
